[Done] Add and edit the prompts.

This feature is now live in Kerlig 2.0!

Jarek Ceborski It turns out it was a little hard to understand that my license had expired. I went to the Kerlig website to download the update directly. After the application was updated, it somehow forgot about the license key and told me that my trial had expired. After searching through my email, I finally realised that my key was expired.

Alex T I see, true – only now in 2.0 I've added the info about expired app updates to the menu bar

Jarek Ceborski Incredible work. I have used quite a few clients with custom prompts and this is by far the most comprehensive and easily the best amongst all . Thanks for this gem of an update.

Show Changes in all Modes (Diff-View)

Would be great to get a diff view for style changes or custom prompts too, not just for spelling check.
For better readability, I'd love a version without showing deletions. This is how I did it in my project:

Let presets work for images
D
Dan Guido
A common workflow that I have is take a screenshot of a slide on Zoom, then ask the LLM to "Extract the text so I can take notes. If the items are in a list, put each item on its own line and don't use numbered or bullet lists. Don't add any of your own commentary." I'd like to avoid writing that each time.

Enable user presets with "/"
mic
By enabling this feature, users can quickly access and apply their favorite User Prompt by simply typing a "/" followed by the preset name. This enhances efficiency and personalization within the application.
Why not simply enable user presets in the prompt/search bar?
- Type: /
- Below where the default Action|Presets are listed, they will be replaced by User Presets.
- Typing /mytriggers a fuzzy search and shows, for example, User Presets like "myPreset".
- or Users can select presets using the up and down arrow keys.
- Press enter to activate the selection.
- With TAB, I can select the model.
Thank you

Applying a preset without adding text in the prompt field
almoo
Usually, the preset prompt already includes the prompt that needs to be executed.
However, every time you need to choose a preset, you cannot simply submit an empty request with that preset. You are required to enter something in the text field first, which seems unreasonable.
It would be great to have the option to select a preset and send it as the main prompt without needing to input additional text.
Jarek Ceborski
True, I think you will like the upcoming feature of creating custom actions:

Jarek Ceborski when can we expect this ?

Jarek Ceborski sounds reasonable. Thanks for the info.

Add preset to the list of windows instead of triggering it with the run command
x
xageGtex
I was shocked the first time I used preset, my carefully debugged preset could not be seen in the window list, very frustrating, only to find out later in the dev docs that it needs to be triggered separately via run, this experience is very bad, two categories of commands should not be introduced into a program, it adds to the user's burden of comprehension, and it becomes more complex in terms of interactions, please make preset to the function list by default.

WIP: Custom Actions are coming ! ✨ Need your feedback – what would you like to add/remove here? (it's a design mockup)
mic
That looks very good! It would be great if the actions were sortable.

Jarek Ceborski This looks so wonderful!! Apart from @mic's suggestion, I think it looks great :)
EDIT: Actually, there is somemthing; can you ensure that the configuration is stored in a way that it could be backed up via iCloud or any other syncing service like Google Drive? I could see myself wanting to invest in this long term but not wanting to lose everything if something goes wrong with my MacOS install.
Baptiste Chrétien
Jarek Ceborski Thank you for adding this feature that I had been waiting for a long time.
There's a missing option to choose the default model type for each prompt, as well as the ability to rename or delete the default prompts. I would also like to be able to use the prompts when there is no context, as shown in the screenshot.
I hope to see this update soon or, at least, that it becomes available in beta.
Jarek Ceborski
Baptiste Chrétien: thanks! Haven't thought about "using the prompts when there is no context" – could you give an example of such prompt? 🙏
Jarek Ceborski
mic: "sortable" meaning defining the order manually (like drag & drop)? Yes, that will be possible ;)
mic
Jarek Ceborski: Yes, like drag & drop. Thanks!
Jarek Ceborski
Harsha K: Thanks, and good point! I think exporting/importing can be added to allow for backing up. Are you thinking of all data: integrations, models, actions, chat history, or more selectively e.g. only actions? Another possibility is to build something like "Kerlig Cloud Backup," which would likely provide the best UX, but would have a yearly/monthly cost - curious what you think!
Baptiste Chrétien
Jarek Ceborski For example, to find the definition or synonyms of a word, or to have a prompt that provides me with a detailed explanation on a topic. Or another example, the possibility of a prompt that allows me to write an article by simply providing the topic, along with other possibilities.
Baptiste Chrétien
Jarek Ceborski Personally, what would interest me is the backup of only the models and actions, with the ability to export it via a backup file or sync it to iCloud.
H
Harsha K
Jarek Ceborski I concur with Baptiste Chrétien, I think just the enabled models and the actions are what I'd be looking for, and I think iCloud backup is great for this, with perhaps the ability to show me the config file itself so that I can manually back it up as well.
My use case of Kerlig is very ephemeral, so chat history is personally not necessary for me.
Extremely excited for this update, but I will be patient :)

Jarek Ceborski , Any rough ETA on this feature ?

Custom Commands
Alex T
I use Kerlig like every day. There are some very generic questions I have to ask over and over like: "Explain the code. Don't forget to add links ".
Can we have a custom commands included? Like "Improve writing" - I want to define my own "Improve writing"?
Jarek Ceborski
Thanks Alex, this feature will come as "Custom actions" in the mean time I suggest using Presets.
- Create Preset "Code explainer"
- Add "Explain the code. Don't forget to add links" and anything else to its instructions
- When running Kerlig type e.g. "explain code", select this preset (⌘+P) and hit enter
Alex T
Jarek Ceborski I'm using that workaround. To much typing to get the same command I use over and over. Will wait for the ability to add custom commands to the main list.
