[In Progress] Add and edit the prompts.
Jarek Ceborski
WIP: Custom Actions are coming ! ✨ Need your feedback – what would you like to add/remove here? (it's a design mockup)

That looks very good! It would be great if the actions were sortable.

Jarek Ceborski This looks so wonderful!! Apart from @mic's suggestion, I think it looks great :)
EDIT: Actually, there is somemthing; can you ensure that the configuration is stored in a way that it could be backed up via iCloud or any other syncing service like Google Drive? I could see myself wanting to invest in this long term but not wanting to lose everything if something goes wrong with my MacOS install.
Baptiste Chrétien
Jarek Ceborski Thank you for adding this feature that I had been waiting for a long time.
There's a missing option to choose the default model type for each prompt, as well as the ability to rename or delete the default prompts. I would also like to be able to use the prompts when there is no context, as shown in the screenshot.
I hope to see this update soon or, at least, that it becomes available in beta.
Jarek Ceborski
Baptiste Chrétien: thanks! Haven't thought about "using the prompts when there is no context" – could you give an example of such prompt? 🙏
Jarek Ceborski
mic: "sortable" meaning defining the order manually (like drag & drop)? Yes, that will be possible ;)
mic
Jarek Ceborski: Yes, like drag & drop. Thanks!
Jarek Ceborski
Harsha K: Thanks, and good point! I think exporting/importing can be added to allow for backing up. Are you thinking of all data: integrations, models, actions, chat history, or more selectively e.g. only actions? Another possibility is to build something like "Kerlig Cloud Backup," which would likely provide the best UX, but would have a yearly/monthly cost - curious what you think!
Baptiste Chrétien
Jarek Ceborski For example, to find the definition or synonyms of a word, or to have a prompt that provides me with a detailed explanation on a topic. Or another example, the possibility of a prompt that allows me to write an article by simply providing the topic, along with other possibilities.
Baptiste Chrétien
Jarek Ceborski Personally, what would interest me is the backup of only the models and actions, with the ability to export it via a backup file or sync it to iCloud.

Harsha K
Jarek Ceborski I concur with Baptiste Chrétien, I think just the enabled models and the actions are what I'd be looking for, and I think iCloud backup is great for this, with perhaps the ability to show me the config file itself so that I can manually back it up as well.
My use case of Kerlig is very ephemeral, so chat history is personally not necessary for me.
Extremely excited for this update, but I will be patient :)

Custom Commands
Alex T
I use Kerlig like every day. There are some very generic questions I have to ask over and over like: "Explain the code. Don't forget to add links ".
Can we have a custom commands included? Like "Improve writing" - I want to define my own "Improve writing"?
Jarek Ceborski
Thanks Alex, this feature will come as "Custom actions" in the mean time I suggest using Presets.
- Create Preset "Code explainer"
- Add "Explain the code. Don't forget to add links" and anything else to its instructions
- When running Kerlig type e.g. "explain code", select this preset (⌘+P) and hit enter
Alex T
Jarek Ceborski I'm using that workaround. To much typing to get the same command I use over and over. Will wait for the ability to add custom commands to the main list.

Hello Jarek,
I am following up with you regarding the customization of actions in Kerlig, which we have been discussing for several months. Despite the interest shown by more than 17 users, this feature is still not integrated.
I would like to ask for an update on its implementation progress. Could you provide me with an estimated date, even an approximate one, for when you plan to develop or launch this feature?
Best regards,
Jarek Ceborski
Baptiste Chrétien
Thank you for your continued interest in Kerlig. While I appreciate your follow-up, I prefer not to share development timelines or estimates. I understand your eagerness, but repeatedly asking about this feature won't accelerate its implementation.
Rest assured, once the custom actions feature is ready, I will announce it to all users.
Baptiste Chrétien
Jarek,
I am disappointed by your response, but simply saying that the feature will be released without any commitment is insufficient, especially after months of waiting and follow-ups. I understand that my follow-ups may bother you.
But your communication is frustrating. You had mentioned a release in July/August, then you mentioned on Twitter that the feature would be available soon. Afterwards, you went back on your word, stating that there was no planned date. This turnaround is disappointing.
To be transparent with you, I bought your application following your messages assuring me of the upcoming arrival of this feature. It was a determining factor in my purchase decision. Finding myself today without this feature and without any visibility on its arrival is extremely frustrating and makes me regret my purchase.
I am disappointed to see that you do not take into account the numerous feedbacks from users who have invested in your application. I notice that other requests from the community have remained unanswered and that the application is at a standstill. At the beginning of its launch, you regularly communicated on the progress of its development and there were frequent updates to improve your product.
Best regards,
Jarek Ceborski
Baptiste Chrétien sorry that you are disappointed. Feel free to explore other AI apps that may suit you better. There are many of them, and I'm sure many support custom actions.

We need this! Currently, Kerlig is nice with some good features. The UI and user experience are great. Overall, it's useful but not fantastic. Adding the option to create custom actions would make this app incredible! It would improve the app tenfold!

Hello,
I recently discovered your application, which I find very well made, and I am currently on the 7-day trial version. I am very interested in the possibility of customizing actions with my own prompts.
This feature is essential in my workflow, and its addition will be crucial in my decision to purchase a license. Could you give me an estimate, even a rough one, of when this function will be available?
Thank you in advance.
Mat
Just purchased a license and default action added by Kerlig is wise.
Unfortunately prompts behind these actions are not suitable for my situation, e.g. "make shorter". It doesn't work like I'd suppose to.
Option to modify and add own actions would be essential
Suggestion: custom actions name + prompt + icon (symbol) + default model for action.
Baptiste Chrétien
Mat I totally agree with you, it’s the downside of the app: the lack of customization for actions. I have been requesting the addition of this feature for more flexibility for several months now, but still no news. As it stands, the app is not fully functional, and the developer hasn’t made it a priority.

Baptiste Chrétien most requested feature and not implemented since june, do I see this right :/?
Baptiste Chrétien
Leon Yes, that's right. I have asked the developer several times for the addition of custom actions since June. They told me that these would arrive in July/August, which hasn't happened.
For now, no date has been announced, despite my repeated requests and those of other users. It's unfortunate when you see that most competing software offers this feature.
The problem with Kerlig is that it limits customization: a nice UX, but few customization options to adapt to user needs, and since then, there have been very few updates to evolve the software in that direction.
Baptiste Chrétien
One should be able to choose whether or not in the settings according to the prompts. Being able to write before invoking the guest is sometimes useful to refine it according to the selected text. However, what is still sorely lacking is the absence of a control panel that allows adding and modifying prompts with options to choose the default language model for the prompts and refine the settings.
I am seriously starting to despair that an option allowing the modification of prompts will appear in the application, which makes it very limited in terms of customization. The developer does not prioritize and does not provide any updates on the progress or a date for the addition of this function, which is essential in light of what competitors like PaletteBrain or BoltAI offer, who have advanced customization options. I am going to start looking towards other solutions.
Jarek Ceborski
Baptiste Chrétien I created this Portal to see how many users need to add/edit actions. 3 voter so far, let's wait for few more. I will let you know as soon as work on this feature starts.
Baptiste Chrétien
Jarek Ceborski Thank you for your feedback. I thought you had already started working on this topic. On X (Twitter), you mentioned that the feature would be available soon, and a survey showed interest in action customization.
I can’t wait any longer without a date. I will look for alternatives, even if they may have a less polished interface and user experience than yours, they offer more advanced action customization to fit different workflows.
I will examine the Alter solution (alterhq.com), which allows for advanced prompt usage. I prefer not to wait for a feature that may never be released.
Best regards,
Jarek Ceborski
Baptiste Chrétien It will be released, can't promise any date though.

Directly Using Custom Prompts with Selected Text in Kerlig
Pramod J
Invoking Kerlig from another application with pre-selected text displays the selection in Kerlig's selection pane (the attached image shows how the custom prompts are unavailable at this stage). However, using a prompt on this selected text requires a manual step - writing something before invoking the prompt. I'd like to eliminate this step and use the prompt directly on the selected text.
